Fortunately the milk - floaty ball person carrier cake

Just a quick one from me our theme of 'Fortunately the milk' continues and it is influencing a lot in our day to day lives. For example it was my mums birthday and so she had to have a floaty ball person carrier cake. If you have no idea what I'm talking about you'll have to read the book!

Fortunately the Milk - summer holiday theme

The summer holidays have finally arrived for us and this year we have decided to theme our break around the book 'Fortunately the milk' by Neil Gaiman. Neil's Work > Books > Fortunately the Milk
If you haven't read it, you must. It's a perfect children's book that has little jokes in it for the grown ups. Boys will love it, just like William does because it's packed with dinosaurs, volcanoes, vampires, and aliens. So there is lots of potential for themed activities. Our first day of the summer holidays I introduced William to his own Professor StegFortunately the Milk: Gaiman's kid-novel is a tribute to fatherly ...

(one of the main characters in the book) and together we made strawberry milk shakes.

To make our strawberry milk shakes you will need
300ml of milk
one banana
half a punnet of strawberries.
Add all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Garnish your straw with a strawberry.

Flower art project

I thought I'd show you some of the larger art work I do. These are all based around floral subjects and are all A1 sized pieces. I like to work in mixed media and these art works combine the use of batik, inks, bleach and oil pastles. I love the vivid use of colour in these and have recently been using them to inspired new design work, both fabric design and cross stitch.

This piece is a close up view of the dried poppy seed heads in my garden.

Lizard embroidery

i have been working on some new embroidery designs and also wanted to try stitching them in more of a variety of stitched as I tend to just stick to back stitch. This aboriginal inspired lizard design I have sewn in chain stitch and work the spots in satin stitch.

Lizard embroidery

I am hoping to work on a set of these and will put the designs in my Etsy shop soon.

Invitations

What happens when people know you like crafts? They ask you to make stuff for them, not ever even condering how much time or the costs involved. As an example of that here are forty invitations I made for my father in law with just one weeks notice.
