Paper pierced rose anniversary card

The hubby and I recently celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary. Having been married ten years we don’t do much anymore to mark the occasion but I thought I would make him a card. I looked up what ten years is meant to be and apparently its aluminium. Not the most romantic of inspirations but this is what I cam up with.

I drew out a design of a rose on tracing paper first.

Then I placed the tracing paper over a folded piece of kitchen foil.

Following the lines I used a tapestry needle to pierce through the tracing paper and foil.
I protected my work surface by using a folded sheet of ultra suede under neath.

I then mounted the foil in a card blank and topped it off with a red card frame on the outside.
It’s so difficult to photograph the shiny foil but you can get the idea from the tracing paper template of how successful the design transferred.

Hubby thought it was great. Shame he didn’t get me a card!
