Scrap booking – American road trip

I got some great feedback from the last scrapbook page I shared with you, so I thought I’d share a page from my new project. I went on a road trip around America with my then fiancee when I was 21. We had such a great time on that trip I wanted to preserve the memories in a special way. It’s only taken me 14 years to get around to it!

Scrap booking – American road trip

  • To make the page I first selected a background page that went with my theme.
  • I loved this ‘greetings from’ vintage look american page.
  • I then added in cardboard push out letters the place name just underneath the ‘greetings from’
  • Then I selected three scene shots we had taken. They were OK photos but grouped together made them stand out more visually.
  • I mounted those photos onto luggage label tags I had cut from bronze colored card.
  • Finally I used eyelet press fastenings on each tag and added a string to give an authentic look to the tags.
  • Then I mounted them on the background page and admired my handy work.

I hope you like my design and feel inspired to do a little scrap booking yourself.

Gluten free No cook fudge recipe

This is definitely one for people with a sweet tooth. A great recipe to make with children as it is a no cook fudge. No boiling sugar and sugar thermometers to contend with. Packaged up it would make a great gift for teacher for the end of class.

Cross stitch fashion illustration, girl with red lips.

I have been working on some new designs for my Etsy store recently. I have looked back at some of fashion illustration work and have stared turning them into cross stitch patterns. Tweaking them here and there. I wanted to share the first one I have listed in my Etsy store I call her girl with the red lips.

This is the original drawing, I have just scanned it into the computer, if you look closely you can see the pencil drawing underneath. This is how I like to do my illustrative work. Work lightly first in pencil them make bold line with either a fine liner or pen and link. I do love a jet black outline.

I then converted the design into a cross stitch pattern. I have kept the pattern as simple as possible for beginner stitchers to follow. It uses only full count stitches and only two colours. What could be simpler. I love how I have picked out her lips in red.

I think she would look great stitched up and framed in a high fashion shop, boudoir or dressing room.

If you like the look of ‘girl with the red lips’ and want to sew her or check out any of my other patterns. Pop over to my Etsy store. I will be updating it with my new range of fashion illustrations.
