Hot air balloon birth celebration embroidery

Just thought I'd share an embroidery I made for a friend's new baby. You know how it is you take photos sometimes and then they get lost for a while and it takes some time for me to get them on the blog!
Hot air balloon birth celebration embroidery

As you can see this was my work in progress shot. I used satin stitch on the balloon. Chain stitch on the clouds and back stitch for the lettering and the basket.

This was it finished and I mounted it in the hoop. I was most pleased with the rainbow satin stitch on the balloon as I can sometimes find it a bit tricky to get as even as I like.

I just wanted to share with you my latest pattern in my Etsy shop. It's a banana Valentine with a play on words. Perfect for those that don't like anything to soppy or hearts and flowers. I will be stitching this up for the hubby this year. It's only small so there is plenty of time to get it made for Valentines day.

Shoe box teddy bed.

Just a quick one from me today. With the weather being bad it's often hard to find new activities to do with the little ones to stop them getting bored. I don't know about yours but both of mine when they were little showed great care for their cuddly toys. With that in mind I came up with the show box bed. I have a lot of nursing blankets in the cupboard and they are the perfect size for playing with the cuddly toys. So we found an old shoe box and using folded baby blankets made the rhino a new bed. My youngest loved tucking him up, kissing him goodnight and then rudely waking him up! Comedy gold apparently. It kept him occupied for a good 20-30 minutes which when you are stuck in, in the winter can be a real blessing.
Even if you don't have a shoe box a folded baby blanket can make a great sleeping bag for a cuddly toy as Macka Packa is kindly demonstrating.
