Free cross stitch pattern, busy seas boat motifs

Continuing the transportation theme this week, here's a free pattern for you. Three boat motifs from my transport collection.

A steam boat tug, a barge and a speedy yacht all sail across the fabric in this cute busy seas design. Quick to stitch up with a limited pallet it would look great in a nursery or playroom. Or sew the motifs individually for greetings cars. Just click on the read more link for the free pattern.

Free cross stitch pattern, busy traffic

The country traffic design I published the other day, proved popular. So here is another little set of transport themed motifs for you. These are based on my busy traffic design, which can be seen on fabric via my Spoonflower shop or on a variety of products in my Redbubble store.

Transport Redbubble collection

As a mother of boys I am always looking for things to decorate their rooms that appeal to their interests and my sense of style. Posters are O.K, but soon end up falling off the wall and getting dog eared. So the perfect solution for me is a framed Art print. What could be nicer than this busy seas print for a toddlers room?

Free cross stitch pattern, country traffic

Here's a set of cute vehicle motifs. Perfect for adding to birthday cards or sewing on a car play mat. They are only small and can easily be adapted to suit colour preferences. I titled these country traffic as I'm often caught behind caravans, trailers and horseboxes!

Free Father's day blackwork card pattern

I know it may seem a little early to be sharing this pattern, but Blackwork, if you haven't already tried it can be quite time consuming. So I've given you lots of time to stitch the beauty up for your Dad.

I don't know about you but I always like to start in the centre of my design then work my way out. I tend to spread my stitch around as I often get bored stitching in one area for too long and have a desire to see what the final look might be quicker!

I love sharing my progress shot of my stitching and I know other stitchers like to see all the hard work that goes into some of designs. If you also want to follow along with my personal sewing, stop by my Instagram.

I was really pleased with the finished blackwork design. It was intricate and beautiful but not too flowery or ornate. Perfect for a male greeting card.
I kept the mount simple and just trimmed the aida neatly and mounted on white card.

I do love this close up shot!

Free cross stitch pattern, star flower

It's been a while since I posted a free pattern. I've been busy doing jobs that earn money, as I can't support myself on my creativity alone. Shame.
So feeling in the Summery mood, I thought I'd share this pretty flower design. I called it a star flower but I'm sure it has a better name botanically.

Backstitch embroidery

Backstitch has got to be one of my favourite embroidery stitches. It's like drawing with the needle and thread. So many of my little sketches have been converted into embroidery just with the use of this one simple stitch. A perfect place to start for would be embroiderers. So here is a quick reference point with 'how to's ' and some beautiful inspiration. All using this one simple beautiful stitch
