Do your kids love trains? Mine do, we have all sorts of trains in the house. Over time we have acquired lots of books about trains, model trains, train money boxes, plastic trains and my favourite wooden trains.
I wonder if parents love wooden toys more than children some time. I can't help to be drawn to wooden toys. I love the warmth of them. I also love that they don't go brittle in the sunshine, discolour terribly or come with some annoying battery powder noisemaker shoved inside them. Perhaps that last one is just a personal dislike against all noisy toys. Which you may like to know all seem to end up being left at the grandparents.
With my love of wooden toys, I like to give them as presents as well. When I was asked to review Hape's Jungle train journey set. I thought it would make a wonderful gift for one of my younger nephews. The package arrived and my boys excited got it out of the box and despite it being aimed at 18 months plus, my youngest who is now four loved it. So here it will stay.
It was easy to assemble, even for little hands just using a simple puzzle piece slot together mechanism.
The toy train, driven by a cheeky monkey pulls a friendly lion and happy elephant through a jungle track. They are joined by magnets which is great as I know clips can be frustrating for little hands.
The track has a jungle tunnel with dangling vines and a crinkly section of track that the train drives over.
My youngest enjoyed getting his other animals out to set up a jungle scene. You can also extend it with other Hape train sets, which is fab if you have train lover in your home too.
I was sent the train set for free in exchange for my honest review. You can read my advertising and disclosure policy here.
You can buy the Jungle train set currently from Debenhams
