These comforting pasties are packed with savoury vegetarian sausage meat and sweet butter nut squash. Perfect with a baked potato for home cooking comfort.
This will make four large pasties
1 packet dry vegetarian sausage meat mix.
1/4 butter nut squash
300g plain flour
1-2 tbsp of cold water.
1 egg beaten.
Preheat the oven to 200c gas mark 5.
First mix up the sausage meat mix with water following the packets instructions.
Then rub the margarine into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs.
Add the cold water and mix with a round bladed knife until the mix starts to bind together. Do not worry if you haven’t added all of the water, as you do not want a sloppy mix.
Form into a ball and leave.
Peel and chop the butter nut squash into small cubes.
Divide the pastry into 4. Roll into balls and then roll out into circle roughly the size of a small plate.
Mix the sausage meat and butter nut squash together. Divide the mixture between the pasty circles.
Bring the edges of the pasty together and crimp by pressing your finger and thumb together along the edge.
Brush with beaten egg and bake for 35-40 minutes.
